Conferences & Retreats for Foster, Adoptive, & Kinship Caregivers
Sometimes the most powerful support comes from stepping away from daily life and surrounding yourself with people who truly understand. Conferences and retreats offer education, practical tools, and the chance to connect with other parents and caregivers. Whether you’re looking for a weekend recharge, an intensive training, or a combination of both, these events are a valuable investment in your family’s journey.
Conferences
- Annual Families Rising Conference
Families Rising (formerly NACAC) offers this multi-day conference with workshops and an exhibit hall. They offer trainings on a variety of adoption related issues (culture, race, sexuality, etc.) as well as some trauma-related workshops. Attachment and trauma are certainly part of this conference but that is not the sole focus. - ATTACh annual conference
A three-day event that focuses on attachment and attachment adjacent topics. In my experience, they may shy away from the topic of RAD and focus more on general “attachment disorders” and not on extreme behaviors. - Camp Attach
Week-long family camp that provides parents with tools, techniques, and support to help heal their children with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). - Healing Hearts Family Bonding Conference
This event is uniquely inclusive of the adoptees as well as the adoptive parents. They offer a track for RAD kids to learn about the disorder and strategies for managing it as parents attend a parenting track. - RAD Advocates Annual Conference
The only conference that is laser focused on RAD and offers a guided experience instead a traditional workshop format. The goal of these three-day conferences is for attendees to leave with an actionable plan for their family.
Retreats
- Restore Retreat
Faith based retreat to “love on moms who are in the trenches of parenting children from trauma.” - RAD Mom Retreat
Relaxing connection for moms caring with children with Reactive Attachment Disorder.
Camps
- Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families (HCAF)
Offering camps based on adoptee’s country of origin. This will enable your child (and whole family) to develop a knowledge and pride in their culture of origin and heritage. These camps provide adopted kids with a community “just like themselves,” along with shared experiences, challenges, and opportunities. - ILUME Childhood and Family
Offers retreats, bonding programs and respite. - Raddish Ranch
Offers training, respite, and camps. - Healing Heart Camps
